Points System

PRO Skijor Frontier Tour - Official Points System

1) Events & Eligible Divisions

  • Sanctioned Tour Events: 5 Qualifiers + 1 Championship Finals.

  • Eligible Divisions for Tour Standings: Pro, Sport, Women’s, All-Around, Snowboard, Novice.

  • “For Fun” divisions: Event-only; no Tour points.

2) Teams, Divisions & Substitutions

  • Team & Division specific: Points accrue to the registered Team in the Division earned. No points cross between Teams or Divisions.

  • Substitutions: Allowed until 24 hours before race day; not within 24 hours. Points stay with the Team, not with individual horse/rider/skier.

  • Multi-team/division participation: Individuals may appear on multiple Teams and in multiple Divisions. Points never cross over.

3) Qualifier Scoring (per Division, per Event)

A) Placement Points

  • 1st 15 · 2nd 12 · 3rd 10 · 4th 8 · 5th 6 · 6th 5 · 7th 4 · 8th 3 · 9th 2 · 10th+ = 1

  • Ties: share the same placement points; next place(s) are skipped.

  • DNF/DSQ/No Time: no placement points.

B) Attendance & Completion Bonuses (stackable)

  • +3 Attendance: awarded once per Team per Division per event upon on-site check-in for that Division (no-shows do not receive it).

  • +5 Completion: awarded once per Team per Division per event for completing at least one official run (time/score recorded) in that Division.

Max event bonus = +8 (Attendance + Completion). If no time/score is recorded, Team still earns +3 Attendance.

C) Series Completion Bonus

  • +10 per Team per Division for completing all five Qualifiers (i.e., recorded at least one official run in each of the five events in that Division).

D) “Best-4” Rule

  • Entering Finals, each Team’s Qualifier placement total uses the best 4 of 5 results.

  • Attendance/Completion bonuses and the Series Completion bonus apply in full (not “best-4”).

4) Finals Scoring (per Division)

  • Placement points are doubled using the same scale.

    • Examples: 1st 30, 2nd 24, 3rd 20, 4th 16, … 10th+ 2.

  • Finals attendance/completion bonuses (Finals weight is via double points).

5) Season Total (per Team per Division)

  1. Best 4 of 5 Qualifier placement points, plus

  2. All Attendance (+3) and Completion (+5) bonuses earned at Qualifiers, plus

  3. Series Completion bonus (+10) if applicable, plus

  4. Finals placement points (doubled).

6) Tie-Breakers (in order)

  1. Most event wins (including Finals).

  2. Most events attended (Qualifiers with at least Attendance +3 in that Division).

  3. Highest Finals placing.

  4. Highest single-event point total (after Finals doubling).

  5. If still tied, co-champions or an additional published method (e.g., head-to-head at Finals).

7) Qualification for the Championship Finals

  • By Division, after the five Qualifiers are complete, rank Teams using the Season Total pre-Finals (i.e., items 1–3 above; Finals points not yet included).

  • Qualifiers: The top N Teams per Division (e.g., Top 20) qualify for Finals.

  • Minimum participation: Teams must earn at least Attendance (+3) at two Qualifiers in that Division to be eligible.

  • Alternates: Name the next 3 alternates (21–23) to backfill withdrawals/no-shows.

  • Optional wildcards (if desired): Up to 2 per Division reserved by the Tour for special circumstances (injury return, host city rep, etc.). Wildcards must meet basic safety/eligibility standards.

8) Admin Policies

  • Results window: Corrections accepted up to 72 hours after posting; standings update accordingly.

  • Minimum field size: None required; points table applies to all fields.

  • One-per-event rule: All bonuses are once per Team per Division per event.

9) Balance Check - How it Works

A) Consistent contender (2 wins, 1×2nd, 2×3rd; all 5; Finals 2nd)

  • Best-4 placement = 15+15+12+10 = 52

  • Attendance/Completion: 5 × (3+5) = 40

  • Series Completion = +10

  • Finals 2nd (double) = 24

  • Total = 126

B) Part-timer (3 wins, misses 2; Finals win)

  • Placement = 45

  • Attendance/Completion: 3 × 8 = 24

  • Series Completion = 0

  • Finals 1st (double) = 30

  • Total = 99

C) Mid-pack grinder (five 6th-places; Finals 6th)

  • Best-4 placement = 20

  • Attendance/Completion: 5 × 8 = 40

  • Series Completion = +10

  • Finals 6th (double) = 10

  • Total = 80

Conclusion: The PRO Skijor Frontier Point System strongly incentivizes travel and participation while keeping performance and Finals as the ultimate deciders.
