Protests & Appeals

Why we don’t allow protests/appeals (and why it’s fair)

Our goal is fast, consistent, evidence-based officiating. Frontier Tour races are produced with V6 Media’s multi-camera setup (ground cams, drones, slow-mo replays) feeding a 4K review booth with multiple screens and monitors. A paid course judge with ski-racing experience sits in that booth, watches every run at least twice, and can pull additional angles on the spot. When any doubt, the call goes to the skier.

How the review works

  • Live multi-angle review: The judge sees every gate and feature in real time and slow motion.

  • Independent, professional official: This is a paid role - not a volunteer - ensuring consistency.

  • Final, on-site decisions: Calls are made immediately using video, not memory, so results are timely and clear.

Why it’s better for competitors and fans

Traditional protest rounds can stall the show, hurt the live-stream, and create uneven outcomes. Our system replaces post-run arguing with real-time, high-fidelity evidence, which is more fair, faster, and uniform across all teams. Last season we ran 700+ starts over two days (350+ teams, 2 runs each) with this model - no competitor complaints.  So the concept is proven and fair.

Fan-first pacing matters: People in the stands and watching at home tune in for action, not stoppages. A quick, decisive replay system keeps the event moving so spectators spend more time watching teams race and less time watching disputes. It also preserves show flow, in-venue energy, and broadcast/stream timing - making the experience better for everyone.

Volunteers vs. pros

Volunteers are invaluable to our events, but critical judgment calls belong with a trained, neutral official supported by broadcast-grade replay. That’s the investment we’re making to elevate the sport.

Bottom line: No protests/appeals doesn’t mean “no voice” - it means the call is made once, correctly, consistently and transparently using the best angles available, so athletes know where they stand and the show keeps moving for the fans. We welcome constructive feedback AFTER the event so we can keep refining the system.
