Read Competitor Q&A →Whether you're chasing the podium or trying skijoring for the first time, there's a place to get involved. Choose a division that fits your horse, your teammates and your ability to compete safely.
Consider the whole team. Your horse's speed, conditioning and experience matter alongside the rider's control and the skier's or snowboarder's confidence with the rope, gates and course features.

Enter one event - or build a season. You can enter an eligible PRO Tour division at a single qualifier and compete for that event's cash payouts without committing to the Tour. Or purchase a Team PRO Card and compete at multiple qualifiers to earn Tour points and pursue Championship Finals qualification.
For elite teams combining fast, experienced horses, capable riders and advanced skiers, often with a ski racing background, although that is not a requirement. Choose PRO when your team is ready for high speed, precise timing and strong competition.
Your skier should be comfortable navigating gates and course features at race pace, while your horse has the training, responsiveness and conditioning to compete safely. Sport sits between introductory Community competition and the elite PRO field. It is competitive racing, with cash payouts and a path to the Championship Finals.
Check advancement eligibility before entering: Horses and skiers who met a Sport-to-PRO promotion requirement in 2026 must enter PRO in 2027. Promotion follows the horse and skier independently, even with different teammates. Review the official advancement requirements.
For teams with both a woman rider and a woman skier, with abilities ranging from intermediate through elite. Choose this division for competitive racing against other women, while matching your horse and teammates to the course demands.
Strong edge control, balance, line choice and rope management are essential. Your team should be prepared for competitive racing at speed.
For versatile teammates who can both ride and ski. The two human teammates switch roles: each rides once and skis once. Both must be capable of safely performing both roles.
Local competition. New experiences. Room to grow. Community divisions provide opportunities to enjoy the sport, develop skills and compete for first-place buckles and sponsor prizes. They do not award cash payouts, earn Tour points or qualify teams for the Tour Championship Finals.
For newer or developing teams and people looking for an accessible introduction to competition. This is a good starting point when your team is building skijoring experience and confidence.
New to skijoring does not mean unprepared: riders must control their horses, and skiers or snowboarders need the ability to participate safely.
For teams whose rider and skier or snowboarder have a combined age of 100 years or more. For example, a 58-year-old rider and a 42-year-old skier meet the age requirement.
For young teammates getting involved in the sport. Both the rider and the skier or snowboarder must be 12 or younger. Competitors 13 or older should consider Novice, subject to its eligibility requirements.
You do not need to be a PRO-level athlete to take part. Choose a division that matches your team's experience and preparation.

The full rules recommend a 25-33 ft rope, minimum 3/8 inch diameter, with no handles, loops or knots. Rope length and attachment require Start Master approval. Read the equipment rules.
Normally one scheduled run per day per team over two days. Overall placings use combined valid times with penalties. All skiers/snowboarders and riders under 18 must wear helmets. Published shortened-event provisions apply when needed.
Best three qualifier placement results count under the normal four-event schedule. Earn +1 check-in, +2 valid-time completion and +4 for completing the series. Finals placement points double. Review the full points and qualification policy.
The full rules describe courses approximately 700-1,200 ft long. Turns, jumps, ring grabs and run-out vary by venue. Review the course and official briefing; pass right of red gates and left of blue gates.

One of the best ways to offset entry fees, travel, and gear. Sponsors can range from a small local business to a large national brand. PRO Skijor provides the platform - you own the relationship.
Name your team after your sponsor so it appears on the website, running orders, and results. Earn repeated announcer mentions, big-screen callouts, and livestream graphics. All terms and deals are strictly between you and your sponsor.
Covers eligibility and divisions, multiple entries, cross-division entries, and running limits for horses and athletes. Required safety gear, course and timing protocol, scoring and tiebreakers, plus penalties, protests, and conduct.
Read the Full RulesLimits count registered teams at an event. Each team generally receives one run per day over two days; an official-approved rerun remains part of that team.
Every team must meet division eligibility, promotion and welfare requirements. These are maximum allowances, not a requirement to enter that many teams. Read all participation, pairing and promotion rules.
There are no protests or appeals at PRO Skijor events. Here's how we keep calls fair - and the show moving.
A paid ski-racing judge reviews every run in the production trailer using multi-camera, multi-view 4K replay. They watch every gate on the course live with replay and slow-mo when needed. Decisions are made from close-up video monitors in real time - so fans get more racing, less downtime.
Course officials' decisions are final. Where judgment applies, the benefit of the doubt goes to the skier. We ask all competitors, officials, and spectators to practice good sportsmanship at all times.
